The materials chemistry of porphyrins and metalloporphyrins
نویسندگان
چکیده
Porphyrins and metalloporphyrins provide an extremely versatile nanometer-sized building block for the control of materials properties. Films, solids and microporous solids have been explored as field-responsive materials (i.e. interactions with applied electric, magnetic or electromagnetic fields) and as ‘chemo-responsive’ materials (i.e. interactions with other chemical species as sensors or for selective binding or catalysis). Biomimetic catalysts for selective oxidation in organic chemistry
Major advances have been made towards efficient catalytically active model systems for cytochrome P-450 during these last ten years. Some recent developments of this field are described. This include (i) examples of application of these biomimetic systems to compounds of biological interest, (ii) the use of Mn-porphyrins to catalyze the transfer of a nitrogen atom into organic substrates, and (...
متن کاملQuo vadis porphyrin chemistry?
This review summarizes recent developments in the area of porphyrin chemistry in the direction of biological applications. Novel synthetic methodologies are reviewed for porphyrin synthesis, porphyrin analog synthesis, stable porphyrinogens -- calixpyrroles, expanded porphyrins. Unique biological properties of those compounds are desribed with focus on photodynamic therapy (PDT) and molecular r...
متن کاملMicroporous Porphyrin and Metalloporphyrin Materials
The diverse e4orts to rationally construct microporous solids using porphyrins and metalloporphyrins as molecular building blocks are reviewed. Porphyrin-based molecular crystals, hydrogen-bonded networks, and metal ion coordination polymer networks are examined in detail. Recurring geometrical motifs observed in the structural frameworks of di4erent porphyrinic solids are emphasized, and the i...
متن کاملCharge transfer enhances two-photon absorption in transition metal porphyrins.
Two-photon absorption processes were investigated in electropolymerized Fe(III), Mn(III), and Co(II) 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(4-hydroxytetraphenyl)porphyrin films. Degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) spectroscopy with 100 fs pulses in the near-IR spectral region was used. Metalloporphyrins with strong charge transfer (CT) transitions in the linear absorption spectra also show enhanced two-photon abs...
متن کاملPorphyrins and Metalloporphyrins: Potential Hypoxic Agents
Synthetic water-soluble porphyrins and their metalloporphyrin derivatives with Co(III), Cu(II), Ru(II) and Pt(II), containing various functional groups within the meso-positions of the porphyrin, were synthesised and evaluated as hypoxic agents, especially as cytotoxins and radiosensitisers. Cobalt complexes of the porphyrins containing positively charged methylpyridinium groups showed selectiv...
